Ready-to-quote descriptions

One sentence

Launchcast is a real-time rocket launch tracker for iOS with live community features, synchronized T-0 haptic, and AI-powered mission intelligence.

One paragraph

Launchcast is the rocket launch tracker built for the new space age. It tracks every SpaceX, NASA, Blue Origin, Rocket Lab, and ISRO mission in real time, with live ISS tracking, AR sky mode, mission predictions, and an AI assistant that answers questions about any mission. Its signature feature is the Live Launch Room: when a rocket lifts off, every phone in the room haptic-fires at the exact same microsecond, letting fans worldwide share the moment of launch.

Two paragraphs

Launchcast is a real-time rocket launch tracker for iOS with live community features. Built solo over eight months by Shohruh Alijonov in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the app covers every SpaceX, NASA, Blue Origin, Rocket Lab, and ISRO launch with T-24h, T-1h, and T-0 alerts, live ISS tracking with overhead pass notifications, and augmented reality sky mode. A built-in AI assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude answers detailed questions about any mission, rocket, or orbit.

The app's signature feature is the Live Launch Room, where users watching a launch worldwide appear on a shared map. At T-0, every phone in the room haptic-fires simultaneously via Supabase Realtime, creating the first app where launch fans can physically feel that others are watching with them. Launchcast is free with optional Pro features, and launched on the App Store in April 2026.

The founder

Shohruh Alijonov is an independent iOS developer based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Launchcast is his solo project, built over eight months. He previously built consumer iOS apps in Uzbekistan's growing mobile ecosystem.

"Every existing launch tracker felt like it was built in 2014 and left to rot. I wanted something alive. Something that made watching a launch feel like being in Mission Control. The synchronized T-0 haptic was the idea that told me the app had to exist." — Shohruh Alijonov

Story angles

The solo-dev story

Built by one person in eight months from Uzbekistan, using modern indie iOS tooling. The kind of story that proves you don't need a team or Silicon Valley to ship a polished consumer app.

The technical story

The synchronized T-0 haptic feature uses Supabase Realtime presence plus WebSocket broadcast to coordinate thousands of iPhones to vibrate within 500ms of each other. Built on SwiftUI 6 with Observable, MapKit, ARKit, and Anthropic's Claude API for the AI assistant.

The cultural story

Rocket launches are having a cultural moment: Starship tests, Artemis II, Blue Origin's New Glenn, private crewed missions. Launchcast is the consumer-facing window into this moment, designed for both casual stargazers and SpaceX superfans.

The indie iOS story

A case study in modern indie iOS development: no backend team (Supabase), no custom payment system (RevenueCat), no custom AI (Anthropic). The parts any solo dev can assemble into a polished commercial product.
